Art Museum Accessibility App
Overview
The DOMA Navigate app was created for the David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State University to enhance accessibility for all visitors, with a special focus on supporting individuals on the autism spectrum. The app offers alternative ways to engage with museum content, helping create a more inclusive and accommodating experience.
Key features include real-time navigation with clear, step-by-step directions, customizable sensory settings, and the “Create Custom Route” feature, which allows users to plan their visit in advance by selecting specific exhibits. This helps reduce confusion, avoid surprises, and minimize overstimulation by offering a clear, predictable path through the museum. With a calming interface and a soothing color palette of light blue and green, the app empowers users to explore the museum at their own pace with comfort and confidence.
